Horton Emergency Vehicles
The Horton Emergency Vehicles manufactures ambulances and similar emergency vehicles. Operations include fabricating ambulance bodies, coating and painting ambulances, and assembly. Stone Environmental has assisted the company with preparation of several Permit-to-Install (PTI) Applications for five spray paint booths and ten miscellaneous air sources. Stone Environmental collected information on each of the spray booths and evaluated coating usage as well as cleanup solvent and adhesive usage to assess the potential need for control equipment. As part of the application process, dispersion modeling was performed to demonstrate compliance with Ohio EPAs air toxics policy. Modeling was performed using U.S. EPAs ISCST3 program. Stone Environmental assembled the collected information, including the results of dispersion modeling, made emission calculations, and prepared the PTI application forms for submission to Ohio EPA.
Stone Environmental obtained emissions limitations from Ohio EPA which would meet regulatory criteria yet give Horton Emergency Vehicles operational flexibility, along with procedures to be taken to remain in compliance. Stone Environmental collects operating data monthly and prepares a report demonstrating compliance with the permits.
