Karlsberger Architects contracted with Stone Environmental to provide site engineering services for a $40,000,000 expansion of the Grandview Medical Center in Dayton. Site work included the design of temporary entranceways to the hospital while utilities were rerouted, design of the utility rerouting for storm, sanitary and water lines, and preparation of construction drawings for new permanent entranceways to the hospital. Stone Environmental also performed survey services through a subcontractor for the project to provide the base drawing information for the improvements.

In addition to the site engineering work, work was performed directly for Grandview Medical Center to assess the capabilities of groundwater to provide the cooling water needed for the structure, and to combine approximately 30 individual plats into one property description for a future parking lot for the facility.

As part of its responsibilities, Stone Environmental performed a review of shop drawing submittals for the civil structures specified for the project, and provided limited construction administration.

This design-build project required close cooperation between the architect, the structural and mechanical engineers, the builder (Danis Construction), the owner and the owners project manager. Stone Environmental attended weekly progress meetings with this team for the first six months of the project when the majority of the site utility and engineering work was being designed. These meetings were held to identify any coordination with any of the entities and also to assure that the project proceeded according to the time schedule and promises made to the Owner. Charles Halsey was Stone Environmentals project manager and attended most of the coordination meetings.
